Abstract

Interacting to Learn and Learning to Interact


Networking and collaboration through various social media and platforms are increasingly being promoted in education. They promise to boost participation and create opportunities for learners and educators throughout the world who would be enabled to learn jointly with peers, work together on shared projects and build common resources.

While these promises appear desirable, they are not always easy to fulfil; encouraging and advancing them can be a tough assignment for a number of reasons. I will try to identify the most common pitfalls when interacting in these environments and suggest ways to avoid or overcome them.
